Privacy Policy

The privacy of our customers is very important to us and we do everything to collect only the data that is essential for order processing and for reliably running our services. We make sure the data is protected using modern protection strategies. In this privacy policy we describe what is collected and how it is used.

Data collected when accessing this website

Every time you use your web browser to access a website on the internet, it transmits some basic data. For example, this includes your IP address, your operating system, the browser language, browser type as well as other data. This will also include the time of the access. Please refer to your Browser vendor to find more details about what data is being sent.

Every site access is automatically written to a log file and it can contain the information just described above (this is the standard configuration for most web servers on the internet). Our web servers are hosted at SG Hosting Inc.

AVTouchBar makes use of Google Analytics which provides anonymous user data that is used for us to track website statistics. Our main use for these statistics is to track the amount of users, the pages users visit, the location of the users, and the time the user accessed the page.

We don’t give your data to any other external party. We only use this data for basic internal statistics which are anonymous (e.g. the number of visitors and what pages are visited).

This website may contain links to external websites. AVTouchBar (website) is not responsible for the content on the external websites it links to. Some links may be affiliate links to specific products. At no extra cost to the consumer, if a purchase is made through an affiliate link I will receive a small commission based on the purchase.

When purchasing AVTouchBar, we load an external script from our reseller Paddle.com. This is used for the purchase process (See next section).

Data collected when purchasing AVTouchBar

The data you enter when purchasing AVTouchBar (e.g. your name, e-mail address, etc.) are stored by our reseller Paddle.com. Please see their privacy policy for more information: https://paddle.com/gdpr and https://paddle.com/privacy. We do not have access to your payment details (credit card etc.).

On our side we use some of the data provided by our reseller for the order fulfillment (i.e. to generate your license and to send you the e-mail with your license information). We store a copy of the generated license file in order to be able to re-send it to you. License files contain the license holder name, your e-mail address and the order transaction-id. This information is not used for marketing and only used for necessary services related to AVTouchBar.

Data collected in AVTouchBar

AVTouchBar does check for updates regularly. When doing this it transmits basic, anonymized data about your system. This includes the macOS version, the AVTouchBar version and the Mac model. This is used to give the appropriate update to you. (i.e. if you are running macOS 10.15 you won’t receive an update that is running only on macOS 11.0). We don’t use this data for anything else.

AVTouchBar also sends a request to verify the license is correct and not over the install limit. The app will also check this periodically to check if a license is no longer valid, or is being exploited to violate the terms of service.

In order for AVTouchBar to function properly, we need permission to access the microphone to read the audio data. If you deny this permission, no visuals will appear, even if you are using the system audio rather than the microphone. This is because the permission is not just for the microphone, but for accessing other audio data necessary for the app to work as well. AVTouchBar will never access the microphone or other audio data without your permission, and it will only read audio data when the app is running and the user has clicked the “visualize” button. Reading of audio data will stop when the user clicks “stop” or quits the app, whichever comes first. We never record any of the audio data read through AVTouchBar. The data is only read so the visuals can be created.

AVTouchBar (app) may contain links to external websites. AVTouchBar is not responsible for the content on the external websites it links to. Some links may be affiliate links to specific products. At no extra cost to the consumer, if a purchase is made through an affiliate link I will receive a small commission based on the purchase.
